In 1994, I was fortunate enough to be able to go to French Polynesia. A friend was living in Papeete, the capital of Tahiti. The nerve centre and political heart of the archipelago. We set off in a group and visited Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora-Bora.

There, blue and green reign supreme. The blue lagoon, the blue of the ocean crisscrossed with reefs, sky blue, the stark contrast with the tropical green of the forest. Such intense blues that they reflect the wings of the frigates that survey the lagoons and chase the boats.

Such nature, such vivid and nearly unreal beauty. One can understand why it has inspired so many painters and artists. It is a paradise where man can nourish himself and live in equilibrium with the environment. This is all in the middle of the tourist complexes that spring up on the islands like Tiare flowers.

The underwater world is equally fascinating. During a dive I was able to share exceptional moments with a whale and it’s calf.
